"Couples, just retreat"

Films: Long Weekend (2008)

Alias: Various, notably dugongs, birds, snakes, etc.

Type: Natural

Location: Forest/Ocean

Height/Weight: That of their respective species

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Good

Summary: Back in the 70s, we bore witness to what happens when you diss on Mother Nature way too often, on top of being a couple of pompous a-holes. Now, it happens again. Just as creepily and deservingly as it did before.

History: Peter and Carla are a mess, and the former believes that a trip to the great outdoors will clear their minds. But alas, a wrong turns leads them to a rather isolated part of the environment. Still, it makes for a good camping site! As one might guess, the two abuse the place for their amusement, and nature itself starts to conspire against them for being like this.

Notable Kills: See Final Fate.

Final Fate: As in the original, the little incidents and happenings drive the couple insane, with Peter accidentally harpooning Carla in the throat, and him shortly afterward getting gorily run over by a truck when the driver gets blindsided by a parrot.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-It's just as mind-rattling as you remember it. Two people being driven mad by nature's righteous vengeance. Honestly, they had it coming, but damn, that somehow still-alive dugong slinking to the campsite after seemingly dying is still creepy as ever!

Trivia: -Sadly, this film still received 0% on Rotten Tomatoes with only five reviewers when it was released. But who even trusts Rotten Tomatoes these days?

-The original film's screenwriter, Everett De Roche, cameos in this film in the pub scene. He also lent a writing hand for this film.
